Parent and Students,
Below is an update on the upcoming week. At this time, the school must abide by very specific regulations particularly the number of people in our building and regulating those who may have been exposed to the coronavirus. All anticipated visitors must contact the office or use our support email email@example.com prior to coming into one of the buildings.
School Lunches: The district will begin serving “Grab & Go” Lunches on March 23rd from 11:00am to 12:00pm. A survey was sent to all parents via email. If you have not done so by now, please fill out the resources survey that was sent so we will know how many meals to prepare on Monday. If you did not receive the survey, please visit our website for a link or send us a note at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll get the link to you. Please use the “pick-up and drop-off” lanes at the grade school. Lunches will be brought to your car. In the event that it is raining, lunches will be served across the street in the white bus barn. Vehicles will enter through south entrance. This is a new process for everyone so please be patient. There is no charge for children ages 1-18.
Student Medications: If your student has medication in the nurse’s office, please email Mrs. Mosiman at email@example.com to schedule a time to pick it up.
Essential Student Items: If your student has essential items such as eyeglasses, medication, computers/cords (9-12) contact your student’s school office. Please use this time for essential items only.
Computer/Internet Access: Another important part of the survey sent addresses access to a computer, laptop, or iPad within the home as well as access to the internet. Our first goal is to try to make sure every household has at least one computer. We will not provide a computer or device for every student. Students grades 9-12 will have access to their laptops. We will try to provide devices to students 7-8. This will depend on the number of devices needed across the district. Our teachers will be planning next week for our K-6 students and more information will be provided for our younger students.
Once the district has finalized resources and needs for computers, devices will be picked up at the bus barn office on the north side of the blue building. We will continue to work with local providers for internet access if it is not available in your home. Please check with local providers or your phone service provider as some cell services providers have waived the data limit for educational purposes.
All Other Student Items: We will be setting up times for you to pick up needed items that are at school. Again, please be patient with us. Some office staff will be back on Monday. However, offices will not be fully staffed for some time. We ask that you please use the support email for questions.
District Facilities: At this time, all district facilities (inside and out) are closed to the public. Again, this decision is handed down from KSDE. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate everyone’s patience. We anticipate to take care of all “pick-up” items on a curbside basis.
Instruction: At this time, 439 is planning on resuming instruction at some level on March 30th. At this time, instruction and curriculum will be online or through paper/pencil materials. Our teachers will be working hard next week to get this process planned for your students. Teachers will be contacting students next week regarding moving forward.
Parents and students, we here at 439 are going to do everything we can to keep these last nine weeks moving along for everybody. There are many unanswered questions that we will all figure out together. Things seem to change every day but our goal to educate each one of our students remains the same.
Stay Strong Cardinals!
