Mrs. Lynch - 7-12 Counselor

  • Hello!  My name is Katie Lynch and I am the new 7-12 counselor with Sedgwick Public Schools.  I am very excited to be a Sedgwick Cardinal!  This is my 11th year as a school counselor and my 14th year in education.  I spent the past 10 years as an elementary school counselor.  Prior to that, I taught first grade.  I am looking forward to working with secondary level students at Sedgwick!  I graduated from Emporia State University with both my Bachelor's degree in Education and my Master's degree in School Counseling.  I grew up on a dairy farm just outside of Onaga, Kansas.  Sedgwick reminds me a lot of my hometown!  I am married to my high school sweetheart, Mike.  We have been married for 14 years.  We have two children, Max (9) and Nora (5).

One way for high school parents to stay up to date is to follow me on Twitter: USD 439 Counselor

  • Individual Plan of Study (IPS)

All 7 through 12 students at Sedgwick Public Schools have an individual plan of study that they are encouraged to keep up to date. These plans help students keep track of post-secondary education interests, courses they have taken and plan to take while in high school, activities they are involved in, and what they need to do to achieve academic success during and after their time at Sedgwick High School.

The student IPS is a great tool for communication and planning.

All students are members of a Google Classroom associated with their graduating class. The Google Classroom that your student is involved in is named "Class Of..." followed by the year they will graduate high school (ex. Class of 2020)

Parents are encouraged to talk to their students about their plans and can access them with their students at any time.

Mrs. Lynch also has access to all student plans and will be happy to share them with any parent or guardian.

Career and Education Interests are researched by our students by using Career Cruising. Each student can access their account through the Career Cruising login page or through a link at the top of PowerSchool when they are logged in to their student account
